Background

Gary is an experienced insurance adviser with over 30 years’ experience in the financial services sector.

Educated at Southland Boys High, Gary excelled on the sports field going on to represent Southland in cricket, rugby, and golf. On leaving school, he worked for some years in an Invercargill sports shop before beginning his financial services career in 1989 with Guardian Royal Exchange.

After learning the business with Guardian Royal Exchange which was subsequently known as Guardian Assurance Ltd then Royal Sun Alliance and now Asteron, in 1995 he established his own company Radka Financial Services Ltd.

A Registered Financial Adviser (RFA), Gary provides personal and business financial risk solutions incorporating the use of life insurance, income and mortgage protection, disability, trauma and health insurance, and advice to businesses on key person and group insurance plans. He also provides advice to his self-employed clients about how best to structure their ACC cover to ensure it works alongside their insurances.

He works with a diverse range of clients including professional firms, independent clients, farmers and small to medium business owners. He has joined Plus4 Insurance Solutions to provide his clients with the collective benefits of belonging to a national insurance adviser and broking group.

Philosophy

Gary sees his role as developing personalised insurance plans that meet his client’s needs and that evolve through their life stages and changes.

He strives to establish enduring relationships with his clients by providing the best possible service. This is achieved by ensuring that they have products that are best suited to their circumstances and keeping the insurance process as simple as possible for his clients.

An important part of his role is acting as client advocate, navigating the claims process so clients receive what they’re entitled to during what is inevitably a stressful time for them.

Not being tied to a particular provider means Gary can ensure his client’s insurance delivers the best outcome should they have to make a claim.

Personal

Gary is an accomplished sportsman. While he enjoys cricket and rugby, golf is his first love. He played golf for Southland for over 40 years.

When not on the golf course, Gary likes spending time with his two adult children, who live in Tauranga, and his partner Debbie who is a schoolteacher.
