Background

Educated at the University of Stellenbosch, he began his financial services career following graduation with Old Mutual PLC, in South Africa. Over the next decade, he rose through the ranks to manage the group’s Sandton Broker Branch in Johannesburg, one of the company’s largest branches in South Africa.

In 2001, he immigrated to New Zealand having been offered the role of General Manager Operations with Fidelity Life Assurance Company where he managed a team of over 70 staff supporting approximately 1,000 advisers and 40,000 policy holders. Roy remained with Fidelity Life until 2012 holding a series of senior management roles with the company culminating as Head of Distribution.

After almost 25 years working for two large corporates, he decided to establish his own company R&G Consultants ltd where he is the principal insurance broker.

Philosophy

I absolutely put the needs of my clients first. My focus is on meeting my client’s needs with the best products and benefits available; this leads to persistency and enduring client relationships.

I rely heavily upon research in helping determine which products best suits my clients needs.

Not being tied to a particular provider, means Roy will ensure your insurance delivers the best outcome should you have to make a claim.

Personal

Roy is married to Gayle, a qualified midwife who works for the Plunket Society, and they have two sons.

He is a mad keen cyclist however also an avid cricket enthusiast, Roy is a committee member of the EDCA (Eastern Districts Cricket Association). EDCA provides a pathway for promising young cricketers to play in major tournaments at the end of each year.  Roy has also coached representative school boy cricket, Year 7-10 at the Auckland University Cricket Club.
